American Oak Second-Fill

16 Year Old American Oak Second-Fill Single Cask TD0095 was filled in May 2006 and decanted in October 2022, for a maturation of 16 years and 5 months.

After such a long maturation, this 300L American oak second-fill cask yielded only 409 bottles at 46.9% ABV.

Boasting a depth and refinement that can only come with age, our Old & Rare American Oak single casks are matured for a minimum of sixteen years. Aside from the notes of vanilla, caramel, coconut, fruit, and subtle white floral and herbal nuances, these whiskies are hugely textural with incredible complexity and length of palate.

As single cask bottlings, every tiny batch is different, expressing the unique characteristics of each barrel. Each bottle comes in a handmade, solid oak presentation box, and includes a letter of authenticity signed by our Distillery Manager.

TASTING NOTES

  • Nose

    Warm and inviting, unfolding with ripe peach and nectarine, skins intact, steeped in golden syrup. Red apples bring a crisp counterpoint, while honey and sweet spices weave through, deepening into dark, nutty tones. An oily richness lingers, lifted by a playful hint of yellow lollies.

  • Palate

    Silken and layered with an immediate burst of pink musk, citrus, marmalade and lemon oil, all unfolding over a beautiful think texture. A gentle oak grip lends structure, giving way to playful notes of plums and orange, while a subtle nuttiness adds depth. Beneath it all, a dark, earthy foundation grounds the whisky, complimented by the nuttiness, as a wave of tropical brightness - kiwi and guava - rises through, bringing vibrancy and balance.

  • Finish

    Beautifully cohesive, carrying marmalade, lemon, and demerara sugar through to a warming mix of gingerbread and baking spices. A lactic, creamy undertone emerges, soft and rounded, settling into the delicate tang of lemon curd and yoghurt - lingering, complex, and delicious.
