Old & Rare French Oak Ex-White Wine
18 Year Old French Oak ex-White Wine Single Cask TD0112 was filled in June 2006 and decanted in March 2025, for a maturation of 18 years and 9 months. After such a long maturation, this 225L French Oak barrique yielded only 269 bottles at 50.6% ABV.
Boasting a depth and refinement that can only come with age, our Old & Rare French Oak single casks are matured for a minimum of sixteen years. This particular cask - TD0112, aged for eighteen years in a French oak cask previously used to mature white wine - stands apart as one of the most unique and expressive whiskies ever to come from our distillery.
French oak white wine casks are exceptionally rare in the world of long-aged single malt. In fact, this is our very first Old & Rare bottling drawn from this style of cask, and one of only a handful globally to reach this kind of age and maturity. Over nearly two decades, the interplay between our spirit and this highly distinctive cask has resulted in a whisky of remarkable power, depth and character.
As single cask bottlings, every tiny batch is different, expressing the unique characteristics of each barrel. Each bottle comes in a handmade, solid oak presentation box, and includes a letter from our Distillery Manager.

TASTING NOTES
-
Nose
Fresh and vivid, with crisp green pear, apple, and buttery vanilla. Tropical fruit, apple cider, and stewed apricot add breadth, rounded by warm honey and subtle floral notes.
-
Palate
Full-bodied and creamy with a waxy texture. Hazelnut and fruit loaf lead into raisin toast and sarsaparilla, complemented by savory olive, wattleseed, and pepperberry, balanced with brown sugar and dried citrus.
-
Finish
Persistent and balanced, featuring sticky peach, chamomile, and honey tea, followed by orange poppyseed cake and a gentle herbaceous touch. The finish is creamy, with hints of melted butter and salted caramel macadamia ice cream.
“Our dedication to long-term maturation has remained the same since 1994, enabling us to consistently release Australia’s oldest whiskies, a choice underpinned by one ethos - the whisky comes good when the whisky comes good; we don’t bottle to a schedule, instead, we are guided by the liquid.”
