Patrick Maguire is the driving force behind Sullivans Cove whisky. Joining the distillery in 1999, he has been at the helm since 2003. When he isn’t at the distillery keeping an eye on proceedings Patrick can be found travelling the world, evangelising about Tasmanian whisky. He’s a keen skier, sailor and drinker.
Bertie Cason is a whisky fanatic and has been in charge of Sullivans Cove’s marketing since joining the team in 2012. Clearly he has done a good job, but when the whisky is this good, it is pretty easy. Out of hours, he can be found at the pub, at the Royal Tennis Club or having a good time somewhere.
Wayne joined the team in 2014 and is the man in charge of production. His superior management skills, honed in the Army, mean that things run with military precision. Wayne likes a good time and can be found with Mel on their boat most weekends.
Bruce Maguire is Patrick’s younger brother. Bruce joined in 2009 and is a still-man as well as our onsite mechanic and fixer. When he isn’t doing that, he can be found surfing Tasmania’s arctic waters. Bruce also loves fishing… sometimes he uses chocolate or a few drinks for bait.
Phillip ‘Jacko’ Jackson is Patrick’s cousin, joining the team in 2005. Jacko has a wealth of production knowledge and knows our barrel stocks like the back of his hand. He is an extremely deft still-man and in his downtime he can be found practicing his love for caving. Other than caving, Jacko is a keen skier, sailor, bushwalker and fantasiser.
Mel Rowe looks after all the admin that keeps the distillery ticking and brought a much needed female touch to the operation when she joined last year. Mel and her husband Wayne have a love of boating and can be found cruising the river on their converted fishing boat most weekends.
Nathan is another whisky fanactic and has had a long career in hospitality. Nathan looks after our cellar door and is the man you are most likely to meet if you came to visit us. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of drinks and is training to be a still-man.
Marion joined the team recently and works on the bottling line making sure our precious whisky makes it into the bottle safely. She likes sunsets and long walks on the beach.
Anna recently joined her sister Marion on the bottling line and a friendly rivarly now exists to see who can bottle the fastest! Anna also likes sunsets and long walks on the beach.
Ian is probably the biggest whisky fanatic on the team and joins us in the Cellar Door with a wealth of experience gained over a number of years at Lark Distillery. Ian loves whisky, Real Tennis and intelligent conversation.
